God is drawing you near.

God is drawing you closer.

I hear of tragedy striking families every single day. Cancer, terrible accidents, unexpected deaths, sudden deaths…
God has allowed these things for His own purpose.

Through the loss of my infant baby I have felt God like I had never felt him before. He has been ever so present and near. So near that I could feel His Holy Spirit within me carrying me through when my own flesh quite possibly couldn’t.
“The Lord is CLOSE to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Psalms 34:18 | NIV
“And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.” Romans 8:11 | NIV
If you are suffering or trying to find healing from a tragedy, find rest in knowing that Jesus sees you and He knows how you feel.
“They went to a place called Gethsemane, and Jesus said to his disciples, “Sit here while I pray.” He took Peter, James and John along with him, and he began to be deeply distressed and troubled. “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death,” he said to them.” Mark 14:32-34a | NIV
Jesus was deeply distressed and troubled!

The last part of that scripture overwhelms me. I have felt that! Jesus felt that! Consumed with sorrow to the point of death. It’s a terrible, awful, sickening, horrific, painful, feeling.
“Abba, Father,” he cried out, “Everything is possible for you. Please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.” Mark 14:36 | NLT
I know from experience that this can be the hardest thing to pray. To fully surrender to His will and not yours, but that’s what He wants. He wants you to surrender your will and place it all in His hands. Trust Him with your sorrows, your suffering, surrender it all to Him. When you can’t utter the words allow the Holy Spirit to lead you.

He will not leave us alone until we are one with Him and His will. He desires to draw you near, to draw you closer, so that you may be one with Him and His will.
“That all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.” John 17:21 | NIV

Abba Father,

I know that everything is possible for you. If it be your will please take this suffering away from me, but if not I want your will to be done, not mine. I surrender my suffering to you. Come close and be near me.

In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.
